1st John

CHAPTER 1

1 That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld and our hands felt, concerning the Word of life;

2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you all the everlasting life which was toward the Father and was manifested to us;

3 that which we have seen and we have heard, we proclaim also to you, in order that you might also have fellowship with us, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son, Jesus Christ.

4 And these things we write, in order that our joy might be filled.

5 And this is the message which we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and darkness is not in Him, not at all.

6 If we might say that we have fellowship with Him, and we might walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth.

7 But if we might walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8 If we might say that we do not have sin, we mislead ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9 If we might confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, in order that He might release for us the sins, and might cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we might say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

CHAPTER 2

1 My little children, I write these things to you in order that you might not sin. And if a certain one might sin, we have an Advocate toward the Father, righteous Jesus Christ;

2 and He is the propitiation concerning our sins, and not concerning ours only, but also concerning the whole world.

3 And in this we know that we have known Him, if we might keep His commandments.

4 The one saying that, “I have known Him,” and not keeping His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in this one.

5 But whoever might keep His word, truly in this one the love of God has been completed. In this we know that we are in Him.

6 The one saying to remain in Him, is obligated also himself to walk so, just as that One walked.

7 Beloved, I do not write a new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which you were having from beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard.

8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness passes away, and the true light already shines.

9 The one saying to be in the light, and hating his brother, is in darkness until now.

10 The one loving his brother remains in the light, and an offense is not in him.

11 But the one hating his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he goes, because the darkness blinded his eyes.

12 I write to you, little children, because to you, the sins have been released on account of His name.

13 I write to you, fathers, because you have known the One from beginning; I write to you, young men, because you have conquered the evil one;

14 I wrote to you, young children, because you have known the Father; I wrote to you, fathers, because you have known the One from the beginning; I wrote to you, young men, because you are strong and the word of God remains in you, and you have conquered the evil one.

15 Do not love the world, neither the things in the world. If a certain one might love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 Because all the things in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pretension of livelihood, is not out from the Father but is out from the world.

17 And the world passes away and its lust, but the one doing the will of God remains into the age.

18 Young children, it is the last hour, and just as you heard that the antichrist comes, even now many antichrists have come to be, wherefore we know that it is the last hour.

19 They went out from us, but they were not out from us; for if they were out from us, then they had remained with us, but they went out, in order that it might be manifested that they are all not out from us.

20 But you have an anointing from the One Holy, and you know all.

21 I did not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because every lie is not out from the truth.

22 Who is the liar except the one denying that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one denying the Father and the Son.

23 Every one denying the Son does not even have the Father, the one confessing the Son also has the Father.

24 That which you heard from the beginning, let it remain in you. If that which you heard from the beginning might remain in you, then you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.

25 And this is the promise which He promised to us, everlasting life.

26 These things I wrote to you concerning the ones misleading you.

27 And the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you do not have a need, in order that a certain one might teach you, but as His anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is truth and is not a lie, and just as it taught you, you remain in Him.

28 And now little children, remain in Him, in order that if He might be manifested, then you might have boldness, and you might not be ashamed from Him in His present.

29 If you might know that He is righteous, then you also know that every one doing righteousness has been begotten out from Him.

CHAPTER 3

1 Behold, what kind of love the Father has given to us, in order that we might be called children of God, and we are. On account of this the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

2 Beloved, we are now children of God, and it was not yet manifested what we will be. We know that if He might be manifested, then we will be similar to Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

3 And every one having this hope upon Him purifies himself, just as that One is pure.

4 Every one doing sin also does lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

5 And you know that that One was manifested in order that He might take away sins, and sin is not in Him.

6 Every one remaining in Him does not sin; every one sinning has not seen Him nor known Him.

7 Young children, let no one mislead you; the one doing righteousness is righteous, just as that One is righteous.

8 The one doing sin is out from the devil, because the devil sins from beginning. Into this was manifested the Son of God, in order that He might loose the works of the devil.

9 Every one begotten out from God does not do sin, because His seed remains in him, and is not able to sin, because he has been begotten out from God.

10 In this are manifest the children of God and the children of the devil; every one not doing righteousness is not out from God, and the one not loving his brother.

11 Because this is the message which you heard from beginning, in order that you might love one another.

12 Not just as Cain, who was out from the evil one, and slew his brother, and for what reason did he slay him? Because his works were evil, and the ones of his brother righteous.

13 And do not marvel, brethren, since the world hates you.

14 We know that we have passed out from death into life, because we love the brethren. The one not loving remains in death.

15 Every one hating his brother is a murderer; and you know that every murderer does not have everlasting life remaining in him.

16 In this we have known love, that that One placed His soul on behalf of us; and we ought to place the souls on behalf of the brethren.

17 But whoever might have the livelihood of the world, and might behold his brother having need, and might shut his affections from him, how does love of God remain in him?

18 Little children, let us not love with word, neither with the tongue, but in work and truth.

19 And in this we will know that we are out from the truth, and before Him we will persuade our heart,

20 because if our heart might condemn, then God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

21 Beloved, if our heart might not condemn, then we have boldness toward God.

22 And if that which we might ask, then we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments, and do the things pleasing before Him.

23 And this is His commandment, in order that we might believe as to the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and that we might love one another, just as He gave commandment to us.

24 And the one keeping His commandments remains in Him, and He in him; and in this we know that He remains in us, out from the Spirit Whom He gave to us.

CHAPTER 4

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but examine the spirits if they are out from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 In this you know the Spirit of God; every spirit which confesses Jesus Christ come in the flesh is out from God.

3 And every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not out from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard that it comes, and now is already in the world.

4 You are out from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the One in you all is greater than the one in the world.

5 They are out from the world; on account of this they speak out from the world, and the world hears them.

6 We are out from God; the one knowing God hears us; whoever is not out from God does not hear us. Out from this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

7 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is out from God, and every one loving has been begotten out from God and knows God.

8 The one not loving did not know God, because God is love.

9 In this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, in order that we might live through Him.

10 In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son as the propitiation concerning our sins.

11 Beloved, since God so loved us, then we also ought to love one another.

12 No one has ever beheld God, if we might love one another, then God remains in us, and His love is completed in us.

13 In this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us, because He has given us out from His Spirit.

14 And we have beheld and testify that the Father has sent the Son, the Savior of the world.

15 Whosoever might confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in Him, and he in God.

16 And we have known and believed the love which God has in us. God is love, and the one remaining in love remains in God, and God remains in him.

17 In this, love has been completed with us, in order that we might have boldness in the day of judgment, because just as that One is, so also we are in this world.

18 There is not fear in love, but complete love casts out fear; because fear has punishment, and the one fearing has not been completed in love.

19 We love, because He first loved us.

20 If a certain one might say that, “I love God,” and he might hate his brother, then he is a liar; for the one not loving his brother whom he has seen, is not able to love God, whom he has not seen.

21 And this commandment we have from Him, in order that the one loving God might also love his brother.

CHAPTER 5

1 Every one believing that Jesus is the Christ has been begotten out from God, and every one loving the One having begotten loves also the one begotten out from Him.

2 In this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and we might do His commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, in order that we might keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome,

4 because every thing begotten out from God conquers the world; and this is the victory having conquered the world: our faith.

5 And who is the one conquering the world, except the one believing that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 This is the One having come through water and blood, Jesus Christ; not in the water only, but in the water and in the blood. And the Spirit is the One testifying, because the Spirit is the truth.

7 Because the ones testifying are three:

8 the Spirit and the water and the blood, and the three are into the one testimony.

9 Since we receive the testimony of men, then the testimony of God is greater, because this is the testimony of God that He has testified concerning His Son.

10 The one believing into the Son of God has the testimony in himself, the one not believing God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed into the testimony which God has testified concerning His Son.

11 And this is the testimony, that God gave to us everlasting life, and this life is in His Son.

12 The one having the Son has the life, the one not having the Son of God does not have the life.

13 These things I wrote to you, in order that you might know that you have everlasting life, the ones believing into the name of the Son of God.

14 And this is the boldness which we have toward Him, that if we might ask anything according to His will, then He hears us.

15 And if we know that He hears us that if which we might asked, then we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

16 If a certain one might see his brother sinning a sin not toward death, then he will ask and he will give life to him, the ones sinning not toward death. There is a sin toward death; I do not say in order that he might ask concerning that sin.

17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not toward death.

18 We know that every one begotten out from God does not sin, but the One having been begotten out from God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

19 We know that we are out from the God, and the whole world lies in the evil one.

20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given to us a mind, in order that we might know the truth, and we are in the true One, in His Son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God and everlasting life.

21 Little children, guard yourselves from idols.
