- Text (Hebrew/Greek/English) Input:
- Single Term/Phrase Search: Enter a single word (e.g.,
θεος
) or an exact phrase enclosed in double quotes (e.g.,"εν αρχη"
). The search is case-insensitive and uses the cleaned version of your input. - Multi-Component Search (AND logic): Combine multiple terms and/or phrases using the
+
symbol. All components must be found in a verse for it to be a match. For example:θεος + λογος
(finds verses with both "θεος" AND "λογος")"εν αρχη" + ην
(finds verses with the phrase "εν αρχη" AND the word "ην")"εν αρχη" + "ο λογος" + ην
(finds verses with both phrases AND the word)
- Searches are performed automatically after a short delay (debounced) or when you press Enter.
- Single Term/Phrase Search: Enter a single word (e.g.,
- Word Values Input: Enter a numeric value. Finds individual words in the Bible whose Standard, Reduced, Ordinal Gematria, or Letter Count matches this value.
- Verse Values Input: Enter a numeric value. Finds entire verses whose total Standard, Reduced, Ordinal Gematria, or total Letter Count matches this value.
5.2. Search Summary & Filters
Below the search inputs, you'll find a summary of results and various filter checkboxes to refine your search.
- Copy Search Results button (copy icon next to "Bible Word Search"): Copies all currently displayed search results as tab-separated text.
- Verses / Matches Found:
- For Text searches, this shows "Verses: [Number]" indicating the count of unique verses matching your query and filters.
- For Word/Verse Value searches, this shows "Matches: [Number]" indicating the total count of matching words or verses.
- Text Search Filters (only visible for Text search mode):
- Single Term/Phrase Search:
Exact: [Number]
Checkbox: When checked, displays verses where your single term/phrase is an exact, whole-word/phrase match. The number indicates the total count of such exact matches across all verses.Partial: [Number]
Checkbox: When checked, displays verses where your single term/phrase is found as a partial match (substring) but NOT as an exact whole-word/phrase match. The number indicates the count of unique verses containing such partial-only matches.- At least one of these (Exact or Partial) must be checked to see results.
- Multi-Component Search (using
+
):Exact Filter: ON/OFF
Checkbox: This checkbox (along with "Partial Filter") determines how *individual non-phrasal terms* (those not in quotes) within your multi-component query are matched.- If "Partial Filter" is OFF: Individual terms *must* be an exact, whole-word match.
- If "Partial Filter" is ON AND "Exact Filter" is ON: Individual terms *must* be an exact, whole-word match.
- If "Partial Filter" is ON AND "Exact Filter" is OFF: Individual terms *can* be a partial (substring) match.
Partial Filter: ON/OFF
Checkbox: Works in conjunction with "Exact Filter" as described above for individual terms in a multi-component search.- For multi-component searches, verses are included only if *all* components (phrases and terms) are found according to these filter rules. The checkboxes do not further filter the *overall result set* for multi-component matches but rather define how the match was made.
- Single Term/Phrase Search:
- General Filters (apply to all search modes):
Show English
Checkbox: Toggles the display of the English translation alongside the original text in the search results and in the main calculator's "Cleaned Text Display" area when a verse is loaded.Show OT
/Show NT
Checkboxes: Filter results to include only verses from the Old Testament (OT) or New Testament (NT). At least one must be checked.
- Value Counts & Filters (only visible for Word/Verse Values search modes):
- Displays counts of matches for each Gematria type:
Std: [Number]
,Red: [Number]
,Ord: [Number]
,#Ltrs: [Number]
. TheTotal: [Number]
shows the sum of these counts. - Each Gematria type has an associated checkbox (e.g.,
Show Std
). Unchecking a box will hide results that matched only on that Gematria type. At least one Gematria type checkbox must be checked to see results.
- Displays counts of matches for each Gematria type:
5.3. Search Results List
